Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat some olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until translucent.
- Add the ground beef or turkey to the skillet, cooking until browned. Season with salt, black pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning.
Assembly and Cooking
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the shredded cabbage.
- Spread the cooked meat mixture over it and top with cheese.
- Add the remaining cabbage on top. If using, beat the egg and drizzle over the top for extra binding.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the cabbage is tender and the top is golden.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
Serve warm with a salad, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables. Optional to add ketchup, hot sauce, or sour cream. Ensure the cabbage is shredded thin for optimal cooking.
