Preparation
- Whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes in a bowl.
- Place the beef chuck roast in the Crock Pot and pour the sauce over it.
Cooking
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours until the beef is tender.
- Once done, shred the beef using two forks.
- Serve over cooked rice or noodles and garnish with sliced green onions.
Notes
For deeper flavor, sear the roast lightly on all sides in a hot pan before putting it in the Crock Pot. If the sauce is too thin, remove the beef and thicken the sauce on the stove with a cornstarch slurry (1 tbsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp cold water). Taste the sauce before cooking and adjust sugar or soy to your liking. Use low heat for the best tender result.
